After 9 days of driving, we made it to Alaska!!!
We crossed the Canadian-Alaskan Border on Saturday, and spent the afternoon and night in Tok (rhymes with poke, actually), Alaska.
We got to take super cool photos at the border too!
Tok is referred to as “Mainstreet Alaska” since its the only city you have to pass through to get into Alaska, and out of Alaska. It’s a very small town, so we spent the afternoon hiking in the local State Park. It was a pretty path, with lots of moose prints in the ground.
We stayed at the cutest B&B, called Cleft of the Rock. We got upgraded to a super cozy cabin, and enjoyed a gourmet dinner of lunchables while watching The Dark Night Rises on TV. It was the first time either of us had seen live TV in months, so we were amazed.
The B&B had an amazing country breakfast: we had eggs, sausage, blueberry pancakes, fruit, everything we had been missing since we started our journey. The hosts were also the sweetest people – they went above and beyond in ensuring our comfort and even liked Sasha!
Sunday morning we made our way to our new hometown, Anchorage (!!!). The drive was only 328 miles, but felt like forever – must have been all the anticipation!
We did it! We finally arrived in Anchorage, Alaska! 10 Days, 5,000+ Miles, and one heck of an adventure later, we made it to Alaska.
We checked into our hotel, dropped off Sasha at the boarders, and signed up for our first ever Costco membership.
So, our Cross-Country journey is officially over; but now we are lucky enough to start an even bigger adventure! Stay tuned, I plan on keeping you all up to date with everything happening to The Stewarts in Alaska!
