A Weekend With Some of the Greatest People You Will Ever Meet

September 23, 2013

So I was lucky enough to spend a weekend in Greenville, South Carolina after a full week in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I had seen a Delta flight for less than $150 to my former town, and jumped at the chance to spend some time with with people I miss.

It was awesome.

Friday night I was greeted at the airport by my friends Graham, Sarah, and Megan. They swept me away to SIP, one of my favourite places in Greenville.

Once there, we met up with part of our usual gang. After a few bottles of Prosecco, we shut the place down and had to be reminded a few times “huh, you know we’re closed right?”

The next day, Megan brought me Chik-fik-a because everyone knows how I have missed it.

After fueling up for the day, we went shopping. Now Anchorage isn’t a complete shopping wasteland – we do have Nordstrom – but I missed Mast General, Anthropologie, and some of the little boutiques that I haven’t quite been able to find up here.

After a breezy run through Mast, where I bought some christmas gifts for Matt, and a new snow jacket and snow pants for me (which was clearly perfect timing) , we headed into Anthropologie where we stimulated Greenville’s economy.

I was lucky enough to be Megan’s date to a wedding of a girl I used to work with when I lived in Greenville, where we witnessed a beautiful ceremony, and I got to meet someone who reads my blog! (so cool!!) She’s got a blog of her own detailing how she and her husband are renovating their house in Greenville, so it was really fun to discuss how we can stalk where our blogs are being read.

Following the wedding, we met with the gang at Trappe Door, an amazing restaurant in Greenville that has GOOD beer (we’re talking Belgian, Trappists, actually really good beer). It was almost like Matt was there, because his beer locker is there. They even opened his locker for me and let me have some of his stash!

It's like he's here!

One of the best parts (for me anyways) was Tara’s cookie cake surprise! A little background: Tara makes amazing cookie cakes. Every time she makes one, I swear I eat half of it. So I was beyond excited when all of a sudden, a cookie cake with my very own name on it was revealed!

IMG_3486After visiting a few more of my favourite Greenville spots, I of course forced everyone into another group picture. Hey, I have to remember these people between the long stretches of visits!

After a busy Friday and Saturday, my parents drove down from Mt. Holly, North Carolina to pick me up and spend the day with me. It was really nice getting to go back to my house and remembering what it was like to actually have yard space

We even got to meet up with my grandparents! That was really special, because I didn’t think I would see them again until next June. And, you betcha, I got another photo.

I also appear to be the only one happy to take a photo.

It was a great weekend, that just wasn’t long enough. Matt gets to head down to Greenville for a whole two weeks in December, so I can’t wait to see what fun he has while in town.
