Sorry For Not Posting

September 4, 2013

I must apologize – it has been far too long since I’ve updated this. I started a new job August 12th, and the past month has been a whirlwind of training, helping to pull off a successful race, and hosting in-laws.

Whew, but here is a quick recap on what the Stewart’s have been up to:

1. I finally got my own car!

yay!

yay!

This means that I will no longer be riding the bus, which saves me time. Luckily, I didn’t have to cave and buy my own – my new job provides a company vehicle. (How I keep getting jobs that provide vehicles, I don’t know – but I like it!)

It’s a Chevy Equinox, All Wheel Drive, so it should be great for the snowy winter up here. I’m still really nervous to become a truly Alaskan driver come winter: all that snow is going to be terrifying!

2. I got a new job!

I will be diving into the wonderful world of pharmaceutical sales! It’s been a lot of studying, and learning medical terms. Since I don’t really have a medical background, I’ve been having to put in more hours than other new hires so I can learn the lingo. But I’m starting to get the hang of it, slowly but surely. I am also now a hypochondriac due to reading about symptoms of diseases, so there’s that.

3. Moose is finally allowed in Obedience Class with other dogs!

We enrolled Moose in class  to try to train her. She was really wild when we got her, but she’s a quick learner; we’ve got sit, shake, stay, and garage down to a science! We’re still working on the jumping, and her tendency to herd people, but she’s doing so well.

Unfortunately, she has severe anxiety (???) and couldn’t handle being around other dogs without getting anxious and mean. So we did some solo classes until she was deemed ready to ‘enter puppy society’ and we had a successful time! Congrats to Moose Eleanor on this big accomplishment.

4. Sasha now loves Moose as her own.

Total BFFs

It was a bit worrisome when we first brought Moose home – Sasha was not pleased to have to share her people. Luckily, she realized that her piece of the love pie didn’t get smaller, the pie just got bigger. I think she also enjoys having a companion – she gets sad when Moose is separated to go to her class, and now pays Moose more attention than us. Way to make us feel left out!

5. Summer is winding down, but we’re still being outdoorsy!

IMG_3299This is just a preview, but our outdoorsy-ness is still happening, despite the chilly weather (in the 50s and 60s), and rainy weather. Amazingly, we’ve both lost weight since we got up here, which is awesome. Only downside is that pants I bought when I worked at Nordstrom are already too big in the waist. First World Problems, am I right?

and finally…

6. We joined a social running club!

Post Run

Post Run

It meets every Tuesday after work. We run around 3 miles each time, and it’s always a different route every week so you don’t get bored. The best part is after the run, the whole thing concludes at a pub in downtown Anchorage so everyone gets a beer, and they give out door prizes to the runners. They’ve given out shoes, shirts, running watches, and gift certificates. We’ve never won anything, but we enjoy the opportunity to exercise together, and chat about our day. So win win for us, I guess.

I’m planning on providing better updates this week, so be on the lookout: Emily in Alaska is about to get more active again!

Moose Eleanor? Where did that come from? Lol. Your equinox and my equinox may be the same color if yours is champagne. Love your updates…keep ’em coming!
