I know it’s super belated, and that we are literally two days away from the upcoming weekend but this past weekend was so amazing I still wanted to share it! One of my fave people came to town, so I took off a day, giving us an extended 3-day weekend packed with so many Alaskan things I’m surprised Megan didn’t want to marry the first plaid-clad man she saw so she could stay.
Megan landed in Anchorage Thursday night/Friday morning, and Sasha & I met her at the airport to say “welcome to alaska!” She was tired after two long flights. I didn’t blame her.
Friday afternoon we went for Mani/Pedi’s and catch up conversations before heading to the Alaska Zoo to view some animals.
That night I showed off Alaska nightlife at Humpy’s in downtown Anchorage for a Capital Cities concert.
Saturday we went down to Whittier for a 26 Glacier Cruise (Read about it here!)
and got our Chinese New Year’s card photos taken.
Once back in Anchorage, we went to dinner at Orso downtown, then Whale’s Tail for drinks and to play with the wine vending machines.
Sunday morning was spent brunching at Midnight Sun Brewing Co.
and buying art to adorn our walls.
We spent the afternoon with friends kayaking around Eklutna Lake
and grilled burgers for dinner.
I took off Monday from work and we headed up to Talkeetna to meet the mayor
at his home at Nagley’s.
We ate at a camper-turned-restaurant
and did a flight seeing tour of Denali National Park.
We finished up the afternoon with some delicious brews at Denali Brewing Co.
and headed back to reality for a few days of work.
Monday we went to the Alaska Wildlife Conservancy Center (Read about it here!)
where we spent several hours wandering and watching adorable animals eat.
It was a packed weekend, doing so many of the touristy things I only get to do when visitors are in town. Megan left Wednesday night (super sad) but I think I did a great job playing tour guide and ensuring she went home thoroughly exhausted and ready for warmer weather.
What did you do this weekend?
