Have you ever seen something really cool at Anthro and been like “I need this” but then your wallet goes “nah, you’re good”?
Happens to me all the time.
Most recently, I’ve been struggling to figure out what to put above our bed. I didn’t want to hang a picture, but I was having trouble finding something that fit our style and the style of our home. I wanted something that looked cool and unique and artsy, without costing a lot of money.
So I decided to make something that looks like it would come from Anthropologie without costing me Anthro prices. I searched around on pinterest and found ideal inspiration.
How I made it:
- I started by draping the rod over the backs of two chairs; this gave the best surface.
- I then pulled the yarn the length I wanted it to hang, then doubled it over.
- Once I cut the yarn, I then used a Girth Hitch to tie the yarn to the dowel.
I started in the middle and worked my way on each side, making the yarn a little bit shorter as I went. This allowed to make a sort-of V shape. When you’re making the wall hanging, don’t worry about length because you can always trim it up if a few strands are too long, or cut the hanging into whatever shape you’d like!
Overall, I really like the way that it looks. It fills the large space (The wall above our bed is 20+ feet tall) with something understated and stylish.
Show me your pictures if you make your own Anthro-Inspired wall hanging, too!
