I’d been meaning to get myself a nice, warm, down jacket for winter; hoping for something similar to Matt’s North Face that packs down super small and is always super warm.
Luckily, It’s like Cairn read my mind because they included the new Marmot Featherless Hoody – an incredibly warm jacket that uses synethic down to insulate it instead of real feathers. This means it can perform even when wet (always a big thing with down). The fact that it’s also a bright jewel tone makes me even happer, as that’s one of the best things about the Autumn season to me is the vividness of colours in my wardrobe.
The jacket retails for $200, and the Cairn Obsidian Box is $199/quarter so you’re already technically saving money there. But the September box also included Eagle Creek Pack-It Compression Bags and Titanium Cups (plus some snacks and tea.) Those who know me know how much we love packing cubes (they’re the easiest way to organize your shit when you travel!) and we love lightweight cups for hiking and camping so it really is a win.
Spending $200 a quarter sounds like a lot, but we always get gear that we can use and it’s nice to try out new gear from big brands, and learn about smaller brands. Basically, we’ve been Cairn subscribers for years now, and it’s one of the few subscription services we’ve kept up with.
Basically, we’re obsessed.
