I found the perfect dresser! (& updates to the movie room)

December 22, 2013

With Matt being in South Carolina for work, I’ve taken it upon myself to do some home improvement projects.

One big project I wanted to do was the downstairs movie room. With us being just at the beginning of winter, I know there will be several cold nights where all we want to do is bundle up and watch a movie (we’ve actually done that several times already!)

The movie room is this massive room in our house, so we bought a couch and built a behind the couch table (which is still awesome and used every time we’re down there).

We’ve got some art to hang up behind the couch, but I haven’t found frames I like yet.

But my big focus has been the wall where the tv is.

The wall was just boring. A big empty space that doesn’t invite more than a path to the backdoor. So first things first, paint!

I love the wall color! I’m not sure of its name, but I can always look it up if anyone is interested.

But I still felt like something was missing. We needed a console table to fill the big space. We were using the kitchen island from our house in Greenville as a TV stand. Not the most appealing thing ever.

So began my search for the perfect console. I was looking for something I could either update myself, or was already updated. I had in my mind what I wanted, and looked at half-a-dozen places before I finally found it.

It. is. perfect!!!!!

It is also huge, so I had to enlist the help of some friends (Thanks Jason & Erin!) to go pick it up from Wasilla with me. Did I mention it was the same day we got 12″ of snow? They are seriously awesome people to help with heavy lifting on a heavy snow day.

So we get it home, and VOILA!

IMG_4438It fits perfectly with the wine fridge, and I love the way it looks against the walls.

The only updates I had to do was installing a wine glass rack. It’s awesome to finally clear some clutter out of the area, and have a place for everything.

and a blanket drawer!

and a blanket drawer!

The room is slowly coming along, but its nice to be making our house a home. I can’t wait for our next finished project: my fireplace makeover!

you had a kitchen island in Greenville? I don’t remember this at all for some reason.
