DIY: cheap laundry room upgrade

If you’re anything like me, laundry is the bane of your existence.

Every day I feel like I think things like:
where did we get all these clothes?
Are we being celebrities and doing multiple outfit changes a day?
Why is it so much effort to actually fold these clothes? Ughhhhh


Answers so far are Nordstrom for me, any outdoors store for Matt; no idea why we go through clothes so much; and that the only good place to fold the laundry is all the way upstairs (two story houses, am I right?)

Well, I came up with a cheap solution to help with the third issue. I moved an old kitchen island we brought from Greenville into the laundry room. It makes a perfect folding table and holds the laundry basket perfect.

So what about for those clothes that need hung right away or they wrinkle uncontrollably? I put up a cheap tension shower bar between the cabinets and wall: it’s the perfect place to stash hangers and actually hang things up. No more super wrinkly clothes in our house!


Only thing left to make the laundry room a little more enjoyable (is that a thing?) is finding a way to corral socks whose matches have somehow made it in another laundry load. And maybe some laundry art for the walls. But let’s not aim too high here.


what are your tips for battling the laundry monster? Because I seriously have no idea how two people need a load run every day.

    Do that on the wall (the sock part) and they will find their missing partners!
