weekend: Labor Day edition!

September 3, 2014

Howdy! I hope you had a relaxing Labor Day weekend filled with your last chance to wear white pants until next Memorial Day! (Don’t worry – I never follow the no white after labor day rule either)

Matt & I headed South to Homer, Alaska – our fav. Alaskan ‘beach town.’ It’s a 5 hr drive that was made comical with 2 dogs.

Sasha decided her place was in the front seat on Matt’s lap – exactly where Matt did not want her. But she was so happy, you can’t even imagine.

We also had poor Moose get car sick (first time ever) which led to roadside car cleaning. Luckily, we have a doggy mat that goes over the seats, so the actual car interior wasn’t damaged. Thank goodness!

We reached Homer late (around 11pm) so we set up our tent and went to sleep. The next morning, we woke early for a stroll along the Homer Spit beach. What should have been a relaxing stroll wound up being a comical game of “drop that dead thing!” with the dogs. If there was a dead thing on the beach, they found it and put it in their mouthes. Fish, jelly fish, birds, and crabs all fell victim.
IMG_8829 IMG_8830 We spent actual Labor Day relaxing. We found a little two mile hike in town and the dogs loved running through bogs and woodland. IMG_8841 After, we went to the Homer Winery for a wine tasting…IMG_8850 …and the Homer Brewing Co for some beer.IMG_8852 IMG_8864 IMG_8866 We stayed an extra night since I had customers to see in Homer. I almost wish we would have gotten a hotel room since it was super windy. I’m talking 30+ MPH winds. Our tent was being shredded by the wind, so around 1am we actually had to go sleep in our car because the tent was making such a horrible noise! Luckily, we spent the whole time laughing about sleeping in a car with a dog that had horrible gas (Sasha) and another who felt my lap was where she should sleep (Moose).IMG_8867We’re back in town now though! I’m gearing up for my first ever Triathlon Sept 7th with 3 of my girlfriends, and to take the Real Estate Licensing Exam! It’s going to be busy the next few weeks, and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
